I haven't written the last few weks because there wasn't much to report. This celeb detox was a lot easier than I expected. For me at least. I think some of my friends and a certain family member had a harder time with it than I did!
40 days ago, I would have expected to wake up on Easter morning and run to my computer, ready to catch up on all my favorite celebrities. Instead, my friend Kristen sent me a text message this morning around 11am that told me all I needed to know. It said: "Sooo, J. Lo named her babies Max and Emme (and they are funny looking), Kate Hudson is back together with Owen Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Eva Mendes went to rehab, Britney Spears is bipolar, Angelina is pregnant again, Halle had a girl, Tori Spelling is pregnant with a girl...what else??"
It was fun getting caught up so quickly (and realizing that I didn't miss much!) and there were a few other things I'd been wondering (mainly who Sean Penn is now dating and what Halle Berry named her baby), but to be honest, those little tidbits were more than enough. I didn't talk or think about celeb stuff the rest of the day. Tonight I spent a little time perusing Popsugar, the celeb blog I used to check out every day and even that started to exhaust me after just a few clicks.
I'm not saying I'm through with celebs forever. I know I'll start to get interested once again. I just don't think I'll care as much and in my opinion, that's major progress.
It took a lot of willpower and determination to stay celeb-free these past 40 days. Our country is truly obsessed and even the people who claim they don't care, kind of do. I can't even tell you how many times I had to tell friends and family that lent was NOT over and that they could NOT tell me this one little bit of juicy gossip that they were just dying to share.
In the beginning, I wasn't sure how I'd go without celeb news for 40 days. Now I know I could probably go a lot longer if I really wanted to. And I'm sure all of you could too. Give it a try sometime! One thing's for sure: It's a lot easier than going 40 days without sweets which is what I usually do.
